Diversity Supplement Salary Gaps

NIH Diversity Supplements are an important strategy to improve representation of researchers from historically excluded groups in science and medicine. The Department of Ob/Gyn&RS aims to support Diversity Supplement applications. One challenge with the applications may be a salary gap between NIH support and actual salary of the recipient of a Diversity Supplement. This salary gap is usually covered through discretionary or other funds of the mentor. However, the Department may also contribute to support of this salary gap to assist in the success of the application and prevent barriers to successful submission of these awards.
