Scholarly Communication helps people with topics related to scholarly publishing, open access, research impact assessment, and author copyrights. The NIH Public Access Policy fits into the open access and scholarly publishing category.

Anneliese helps authors determine what they need to do to bring papers into compliance as well as general questions about the Policy and the systems that support it (NIHMS, PMC, My Bibliography). If people have questions about NIH's data-sharing requirements, they can refer to this help page or use this contact form: https://www.library.ucsf.edu/ask-an-expert/contact-a-data-science-expert/

New OSR Division Names and Working Titles

The Proposals and Grants Teams (formerly known as Research Management Services - RMS) and the Contracts & Awards teams (formerly known as Awards, and Government and Business Contracts - GBC) recently updated Division names and working titles. The new titles better align with the new structure of OSR and comparable positions at other UC campuses, in industry and at the NIH.

The new OSR titles help distinguish the roles and responsibilities of the staff in the various OSR units.

Dimensions Analytics is a linked research data resource that tracks information on publications and their citations and mentions, datasets, research funding, patents, clinical trials, and policy documents. The UCSF community has access to this online database, jointly supported by the Research Development Office (RDO) and the Library. Here is the UCSF Guide and Database. To log in to Dimensions, go to app.dimensions.ai, click on “Log in” in the top right corner, and enter your ucsf.edu email address. Log into Dimensions using your Single Sign On (SSO) credentials. The first time you do this, you will need to confirm your email address through a confirmation code, and then you will be asked to create an account.

This tool enables researchers, staff, and leadership to do things such as:

  • measure and assess research impact via citations and Altmetric data
  • identify collaborators, competitors and other elements of research funding competitive intelligence
  • generate analytic interpretations and data for visualizations

HHS UPDATE: SALARY LIMITATION ON AHRQ FY2022 GRANTS, COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS, AND CONTRACTS

NOT-HS-22-012 informs Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) applicants, grantees, and contractors of the salary cap limitation imposed for Fiscal Year 2022.

Per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022, (P.L. 117-103) signed into law on March 15, 2022, the amount of salary that may be paid to an individual under an HHS grant, cooperative agreement, or applicable contract is limited to Executive Level II of the Federal Executive Pay Scale, effective January 2, 2022, at $203,700.

Committed levels of funding for grant and contract awards made in prior fiscal years that were restricted to Executive Level II will NOT be adjusted to the new salary cap rate; however, if adequate funds are available and the salary cap limitation is consistent with the institutional base salary, grantees may re-budget funds to accommodate the FY2022 salary cap. It is expected that such re-budgeting will not negatively impact the aims of the project. No additional funds will be provided for grants and the total estimated costs of contracts will not be modified.

Please see the Notice for details and where to direct inquiries.
