How it works:
Anyone (faculty, staff, trainees) should go to the UCSF Recognize program and send a Recognition of a Campus Staff employee at any time. This can be done in either of two ways:
- Digital cards: From the Recognize homepage, select “Digital Card” to send recognition via the UCSF Employee THANKS program.
- Emails: From the Recognize homepage, select “Email” to send recognition via Outlook email.
Detailed instruction about the Recognize system can be found in the Getting Started section of their site.
Every month, SHINE sends out an email that highlights:
- A randomly selected Campus staff employee* who was Recognized that month
- The department member (faculty, staff, trainee) who submitted the most Recognize entries for our Campus staff that month.
Both will receive a Congratulations gift card from the department, $50 for the Recognized staff and $25 for the top Recognizer.**
In addition, three SPOT awards are granted as part of this program to a Campus Staff person Recognized within three time periods during the year. The lottery winners are selected at random in October, February, and June from among all Recognized Campus staff for each time period who are eligible for SPOT awards.*
Who is eligible for Recognition in the SHINE program?
Any UCSF employee can be Recognized, but for the purposes of our program, any Campus staff member in the department in non-managerial job classifications up through P4 (with the exception of P4 supervisors)*** will be eligible for monthly recognitions with some staff eligible for a further recognition SPOT opportunity 3 times per year.
*P4+ staff who supervise and managerial staff will not be eligible for the monthly highlight or the SPOT awards lottery, nor will any Campus staff be eligible for the SPOT award lottery if not eligible for that program. See SOM and HR websites for more information on the program and eligibility.
**gift card awards collectively cannot exceed $225 annually for any individual.
